1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using For Profit ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. We may update these terms from time to time, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Description of Service

For Profit is a financial data conversion service that converts bank statements into professional Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, P&L detail sheets, and cash-based balance sheets using AI-powered categorization. The Service processes uploaded bank statement data, categorizes transactions using artificial intelligence, and generates formatted financial reports for download.

3. User Accounts

When you create an account with For Profit, you agree to:

Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
Maintain the security of your account credentials and not share them with others
Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

Upload false, fraudulent, or misleading financial data
Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other user accounts, or our systems
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
Use automated bots, scrapers, or other automated means to access the Service

5. Payment Terms

You agree to pay all fees associated with your use of the Service at the rates in effect when the charges are incurred
You are responsible for providing accurate billing information
We reserve the right to change our pricing with 30 days' prior notice

Cancellation Policy

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your dashboard settings. Upon cancellation, you will retain full access to all paid features until the end of your current billing period. After your billing period ends, your account will be downgraded to the Free tier. Your data will be retained for 30 days after downgrade, during which you can resubscribe to restore full access.

Refund Policy

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans. If you are not satisfied with For Profit, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your initial subscription purchase. Refunds are processed through our payment processor and typically appear within 5–7 business days. After 14 days, subscriptions are non-refundable but may be cancelled at any time as described above. Refunds do not apply to Expert Review add-on purchases once the review has been started.

6. Account Downgrade and Data Retention

When your account is downgraded to the Free tier (either by cancellation or non-payment), you will lose access to paid features including but not limited to: multiple accounts, P&L Detail Sheets, Balance Sheets, expense trends, vendor reports, and client management. Your data (transactions, reports, uploaded statements) will be retained for 30 days. During this period, you may resubscribe to restore full access. After 30 days, your data may be permanently deleted. We recommend exporting your data as CSV before cancelling.

7. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and technology, is owned by For Profit and protected by intellectual property laws
You retain full ownership of all financial data you upload to the Service
By uploading data, you grant For Profit a limited, non-exclusive license to process your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service

9. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability of the Service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime in advance.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

For Profit does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any converted financial data. The AI-powered categorization is provided as a tool to assist with financial reporting and should be reviewed by the user before use. For Profit is not a substitute for professional accounting or tax advice.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, For Profit shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless For Profit, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violations of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion. You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately, and we may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which For Profit operates, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be replaced with a valid provision that most closely reflects the intent of the original, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

16. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated Terms on the Service with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.
